Championed by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and adapted during a 41 week build project, the Station is the latest venue operated by the Service which supports emergency services working alongside each other.
TC Consult were appointed as Quantity Surveyor to deliver this complex project which involved a full refurbishment and alteration scheme to the existing offices and accommodation as well as reconfiguration of the external roads and paved areas to incorporate facilities required by the Welsh Ambulance Service. The result – a fully functioning shared services site.
A particular challenge was to encompass both operations’ requirements and keep the fire station operation live during construction, so very careful phasing, strategic planning and continuous liaison with the station operations team.
