TC Consult were appointed by Alburn Retail Ltd. as Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveyors on this new build project on Caerleon Road, Newport.
Again, TC delivered a fixed price design and build contract that was in line with their pre-tender estimate and on schedule.
Complex challenges
The site was a former derelict petrol filling station and therefore required demolition and decontamination, ground remediation, grubbing-up of fuel tanks, specialist piling and gas membrane installations. Mains power had to be brought into the site from a quarter of a mile away and the route had to even go under a live railway line and a main road; a complicated project, but one that was right up TC’s street.
The main contractor was Jehu Project Services and the project team included architects Willdig Lammie and engineering firm RVW Consulting engineers.
